How We Do It
We review the drawings, specifications and any existing cost documentation. We then identify alternatives across every element of the build - structural systems, facade treatments, finishes, services, site works - and present each option with a clear cost comparison. Every alternative is presented with the cost saving, any trade-off in quality or programme impact, and our recommendation. You make the decision. We provide the numbers to support it. When to Use Value Engineering
The most effective time for VE is at design development stage before documentation is complete and before the project goes to tender. Changes at this stage cost nothing to implement on paper. Once the project is tendered or under construction, the same changes cost time and money to execute. That said, we also provide VE advice on projects that have come back over budget at tender stage. If the builder's price is above the client's budget, we identify where the savings sit and how much each option is worth so you can make targeted reductions rather than asking the builder for an across-the-board discount.
